Enjoying your flight

Tips For Enjoying Your Flight
  • Do ensure you are fit to fly and can stand for about an hour.
  • Pregnant women and anyone who has recent undergone surgery should not fly - if in doubt please speak to your GP.
  • Do remember the Pilot is in charge of the aircraft, this is important for your safety and listen to the passenger safety briefing.
  • Balloons fly just after dawn or a few hours before sunset when conditions are likely to be best.
  • Do make sure you are on time - the balloon cannot wait for you.
  • Do telephone the operator’s Passenger Line, to get up to date information prior to your flight.
  • Balloons need certain weather conditions to fly safely, so it is not unusual for your flight to be cancelled and rearranged a few times. However around 30,000 passengers fly each year, so please be a little patient.
  • Advertised Launch sites may need to change on the day of your flight if the forecast wind direction would take the flight into airspace, or other problem areas.
  • Balloons fly with the wind so the landing site and exact flight duration cannot be guaranteed.
  • You should dress as if out for a walk in the countryside, in clothing made from natural fibres when taking your flight. Shoes or boots should be flat.
  • Tall passengers may find a cotton cap useful protection from the radiant heat of the burners above.
  • Do remember that ballooning is proven to be one of the safest forms of aviation, so take your camera and enjoy your flight experience.
